The COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) is the AAPC's credential for coders who work on the facility side of outpatient care, such as hospital outpatient departments, emergency departments and ambulatory surgery centers. It tests your ability to assign accurate CPT, HCPCS Level II and ICD-10-CM codes and to apply outpatient payment methodologies such as the OPPS. The exam is open-book, so you can use approved code manuals.
